Tree Removal,
Marshgate Primary School, Richmond

Project type
Large tree removal.

Project brief
We were contacted by FR Morris, a ground works contractor, to carry out the removal of a large Lime tree. This was done to allow the building of an extension at the School. FR Morris needed the works done as soon as possible so after a check at Richmond council to check that the tree was not protected, we commenced works 3 days after the call came through.

Project Description
In London it’s rare that a tree of this size can be ‘straight felled’. Craig climbed the Lime tree and cut it down in medium-sized pieces to minimise damage to ground level. The main trunk was then felled but upon cutting it into sections it was found to be almost entirely hollow inside. The tree had in fact been very dangerous and highlighted the need to carry out hazard evaluation to trees in public areas. As the guys ‘pieced’ up the trunk they found it to contain metal and stone which meant much of the afternoon was spent sharpening the saws. Once the logs had been removed Shane set to work on the stump.
